I began experimenting with games because I was intrigued by their potential to challenge traditionally structured social relationships in a hands-on interactive way. Unlike traditional games which are typically competitive zero-sum situations, my goal is to create parameters that are inherently synergistic and altruistic. Providing cooperative rule-based structures encourages participants to think critically about embeded value systems through active participation instead of passive contemplation.

Non-zero sum is a 2-person collaborative game in which participants work together to create a composition. Taking turns, participants roll dice and place colored blocks on the board according to color and number. A combination of chance and choice, participants negotiate to set the terms for their collaboration individually and in teams.

Inspired by cartomancy but created with the desire to invent a system that wasn’t based on narrative or linguistic structures, these divination cards focus on color and subjectivity. Not only does the diviner need to decode color relationships, they must also invent the layout structure. The result is a reading that is less interpreted than felt or intuited.
